How do I get money for traveling?
A question I get asked all the time is “How do you pay for all of these trips?” People are confused because I don’t have a high paying job. Well honestly you don’t need a high paying job to get money for traveling. You just have to make a ton of sacrifices. I had to get my priorities in order and figure out what was more important to me. Right now I would rather travel then go out. You can save money in so many ways, you just have to stop and think…. “Would I rather put this $20 toward a trip, or go out and get some drinks?” It’s completely up to you.
Some things I had to cut out were eating out everyday, going out every weekend, getting my hair done, and the biggest one of all.. School. I can’t afford to pay for college and travel the world right now so I decided to travel every where I want to go and if I still haven’t figured out what I wanted to do then I would go back to school. Following your dream has a rocky path somethings but it is totally worth it!
Another way that I pay for my trip is a credit card. I have ONE credit card that I’ll put the whole trip on and I will not book my next trip until that one is completely paid off. I usually have it paid off by the time I get back from my trip. It’s actually very beneficial because not only am I building up my credit, but I get 1% in of my money back. I use the money I get back from each trip to help pay it off. This is one way how i get money for traveling.
Now, I know it’s hard to pay for all the trips with just a low paying job. There is rent, electricity, water, and you have to feed yourself sometimes. That’s why on the weekends and nights I will find other little side jobs I can do such as babysitting and doing photography sessions. You can even sign up to walk dogs or clean people’s houses.
There’s plenty of ways to make extra money you just have to decide what you want more.. To go out on a Friday night, or to make extra money for your next journey. Your choice, but I would much rather go to the opposite side of the world then go get fast food, or go out every weekend. Not only is it a better experience, but it is also a 100 times better for your body.. just sayin’ (;
I hope this helps answer some of your questions and if you’re a fellow traveler I would love to hear ways that you make money/save for trips!
