Next stop of Kellie, who traveled the world with a stranger was Las Vegas! How do girls from the UK enjoyed the “sin city”?
The first thing I remember about Las Vegas were the bright lights. We were in the taxi being driven to our hotel, Ellen and I were hanging out the windows while the taxi driver was busily pointing out all the different sights I’d only seen in Ocean’s Eleven. The strip together with the famous hotels such as The Venetian, Bellagio, Mirage and the Eiffel Tower, it was eye popping.
We were staying at the Stratosphere, a huge tower hotel with thrill rides at the very top. While you wait to check in you get the pleasure of watching people screaming their heads off as they catapult 27ft over the tower edge and dangle helplessly 109 stories in the air.
It looked awful and for one split second we considered going on it until we both bottled it, got ready and hit the strip instead! Our porter told us the best club to go to was called PURE in Caesars Palace. We headed to the bar first and got chatting to many people from around America. There were lots of guys on stag dos and girls on hens, this was party central! At around midnight we headed into PURE. It was quite a small club and the prices were way overpriced but we danced until the early hours and fell into bed around 4am.
We knew Las Vegas would be hot but I don’t think we were that prepared with how intense the heat would really be. Or maybe it was our sore heads that made it feel 100 times worse! Anyway the next morning we grabbed some food at Denny’s then walked up and down the strip to see it properly in the daylight. We came across the famous wedding chapels and went inside the Little White Wedding Chapel where Britney got married. We saw the huge wedding cars outside, cardboard cut outs of Elvis everywhere and even saw a 24 hour drive up wedding window!

A bit later we arrived at the Bellagio and saw the stunning fountains, went inside the casinos and looked at everyone gambling all their money hoping to win a fortune. I got told off for taking a picture of the roulette table, apparently you can’t take pictures as you could be cheating. Oops! People lose track of time in there as there are no clocks and apparently they pump in additional oxygen so you don’t get sleepy and want to leave!
As well as the casinos the hotels are also one of the top attractions in Las Vegas and I was in awe of The Venetian, it really is something else, blue clouds line the ceiling and it really is like looking at the sky and being outside, there are posh shops galore and outside Gondolas sail loved up couples along the makeshift canal around the hotel just as if you were in Venice, it really is something to be seen.
The next day we took a tour to the Grand Canyon. We had a quick stop at Hoover Dam then headed straight for the Canyon itself. We walked around the South Rim mesmerised by the views and had lunch right on the Rim. It was another unforgettable experience added to the list of unforgettable experiences we’d had so far.
Next stop: Fiji!
